Guidance: The Lunar Moon (January to February)
“Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.” Bette Davis
Friends -
The first lunar moon of 2024 (January 11 - February 9) brings us all huge challenges and vast opportunities.
A colleague and brilliant teacher based in Wales, Semele Xerri, just published her blog “Spiritual Guidance January/February 2024.”
I read it as I was finishing my next Elyn’s Diary post on the Major Arcana card ‘The Devil’. I put that blog on hold to share Semele’s piece with you. Her blog is so timely and wise, and it speaks to the issues, fears, and determination we all are feeling and seeing - personally and in the world.
She says, “It will be almost impossible to hold on to traditional structures and methods of the past now as the necessity of the completely different becomes more and more obvious. These are weeks of intense and potentially shocking events that may explode your sense of security, what you believed to be true about yourself and the world, and bring drastic change in their wake.”
I love how she concludes: “It’s helpful to realise that planning and direction setting is not going to look like you’re used to though. This is because you’re starting afresh as we are all are, not building on any existing rules or frameworks. So where you want to head is probably not going to be well defined at this point, and that is perfectly ok. It’s most important at this point to get a felt sense of how you want to live and experience life, based on the values you hold dear.
The blog I’m wriiting on The Devil (it will be out next week) includes Henry David Thoreau’s quote, ”It’s not what you look at that matters; it’s what you see.” Reflecting on Semele’s piece, can you see what’s true in yourself and in your world?
The Tower is a scary - and liberating - card. It is about seemingly unshakable and permanent structures falling down. Looking at the third eye at the top of the card, what does your third eye see?
