How do I nurture?

The Sun

Use your voice for kindness, your ears for compassion, your hands for charity,

your mind for truth, and your heart for love. - Anon

Friends -

How do I nurture myself and others? The Empress, the universal archetype of love with wisdom, asks us this question.

In this time of the climate emergency on our planet, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and disheartened. Therefore, it’s especially important to recognize the importance of caring for yourself, your dreams, and your well-being on every level.

In the last three Elyn's Diary postings, we looked first at The Fool – listening to the voice of our heart. The second, The Magus – telling our truth by doing and forming. The third, The Priestess – trusting our intuition. See more on The Empress below.

Over the next few months, we'll continue to look at all the Major Arcana cards and some of the questions they invite us to explore. The 22 cards in the Major Arcana represent universal principles collectively experienced, regardless of our culture or family upbringing. These 22 teachings address how, as human beings, we grow, evolve, and deepen.

I’ve been honored over the years to do readings for so many – is it time to do yours?

For your heart, mind & spirit -

Elyn

The Empress - Major Arcana Three

The Empress is about loving and nurturing ourselves, other beings, and the planet Earth. In this time of the climate emergency on our planet, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and disheartened. Therefore, it's especially important to recognize the importance of caring for yourself, your dreams, and your well-being on every level. If you are physically healthy, emotionally fulfilled, spiritually inspired, and mentally at peace, then you can nurture much more effectively.

The Empress embodies and commands the feminine in all its forms, marked by beauty and wholeness. She is mother and lover, ruler and seer at the same time - graceful and strong.

She rules water, balanced with the moon tides, receiving and giving that is mutual and balanced. She's mature love that knows the power of receptivity.

When this card comes up in a reading, it can point to a pregnancy or a new creation - big plans that come true because The Empress supports the ability to multiply and implement the new. Whether material, emotional or creative manifestations, this card reinforces the need to open up to external influences and let their energy enter.

The Empress indicates you're in a period of growth, in which all you have dreamed is coming to fruition. So, when the Empress appears in your Tarot reading, take a moment to reflect on the bounty that surrounds you and offer gratitude for all you have created.

The Empress is all about the nature of things. She wants us to get back to our roots and focus on our needs and the needs of the world around us.

When she appears, ask yourself if you've been showing love and kindness to yourself, the situation, other people, to the Earth.
