Friends -

The Fool begins the Tarot journey asking: What is my heart telling me?

Over the next few months, we'll look at all the Major Arcana cards and some of the questions they invite us to explore. (See more about The Fool below.)

The 22 cards in the Major Arcana represent universal principles collectively experienced, regardless of our culture or family upbringing. These 22 teachings address how, as human beings, we grow, evolve, and deepen.

What is my heart telling me?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

The Fool represents the beginning of something, the very first step on a brand new adventure. So when this card comes up for you in a reading, it tells you that there's a new beginning, one not based on what has happened before. In other words, listen to your heart.

Once we reach adulthood, our enthusiasm and open-hearted trust in the essential goodness of the world is often buried under cynicism and hurt. So instead, we take the easy option because it's secure and safe, and we know what the result will be (even if that result doesn't really satisfy us).

The Fool asks us not to let our wounds dictate our behavior, to follow our expansive hearts and not our restrictive heads, and to dare to look at the world we live in with the innocence and playful joy of a child.

The Fool also represents "beginner's mind," or the act of embracing our ignorance when starting a new task and becoming absorbed in the process of learning. Far from being frivolous, The Fool shows us that we are most receptive when we approach new things with a healthy sense of wonder and play.

Even though you don't know exactly where you are going, The Fools tells you that you are being called to commit yourself and follow your heart, no matter how crazy this leap of faith might seem to you. Now is a time when you need to trust where the Universe is taking you.
