What now must we do?

What now must we do?

As he witnessed the endless misery of so many Russians, Leo Tolstoy asked this question 150 years ago.

Now, at this time in our planet’s history, the misery, injustice, and violence we witness is seemingly endless. Where do we start with our own healing and the healing of the world around us? What now must we do?

In Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ recent brilliant essay, We Were Made for These Times, she writes:

We are needed; that is all we can know. And though we meet resistance, we more so will meet great souls who will hail us, love us, and guide us, and we will know them when they appear.

She goes on to say:

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good.

What does this all have to do with the Tarot? The Tarot brings us closer to our true selves, to walk our true paths, and helps answer the heart question, “What now must I do?”

The Priestess: How do I trust my intuition?

The Empress: How do I nurture?

The Emperor: How do I lead?

The Hierophant: Who are my teachers?
